GHANASS Headmistress Suspended Amid Claims of Selling Unauthorized Items.

Patience Naki Mensah, the Headmistress of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) in Koforidua, has been suspended by the Ghana Education Service (GES) amid allegations of selling unauthorized items to first-year students.

The suspension follows a letter from Mrs. Ivy Asantewaa Owusu, the Eastern Regional Director of Education, dated December 7, 2023.

The letter details allegations that Mrs. Mensah was involved in selling ceremonial cloths and tracksuits without proper authorization.

Mrs. Mensah has been instructed to step down while an investigation into the claims is conducted.

This move is part of a broader effort by the GES to ensure adherence to regulations and prevent unauthorized practices within schools, especially following the introduction of the Free SHS policy.

This incident is part of a wider trend of headteachers being suspended for allegedly collecting unapproved fees or engaging in similar financial irregularities. The GES remains committed to upholding transparency and compliance within the education sector.
